Patty, here is my revised letter.  What do you think?

Thanks for the talk this a.m.--I appreciate your honesty.

    Jody

    Dear Michael,

Please find some pictures that my Pre K students made for you.  A picture of you from Graduation (boot camp) hangs above our American flag in our classroom.

My name is Jody Reed and I’m the mom of Brett Reed who also graduated from PI on July 10th.  He was in plt. 3053, and was also at MCT the same time you were.  I met

your mom online and started a friendship.

Our class had been writing Marines as a class project.  My students call you guys… “Proud Americans,” and sometimes, “Submarines.”  LOL  They are so young and innocent, they don’t even know we are fighting in a war to keep them free.

If you can find the time, we would LOVE a letter back from you!  I want to display the correspondence from our very special Marines in the hallway of our school.

You mom has said you are very busy, as I’m sure you are!  Please know that we

will continue to write to you and send you pictures if you are willing to be our pen pal?  We would love even to have just one letter from you—to hang by your picture!

If interested, please send your letter to:

    Jody Reed’s Pre K students

    PO Box J

    Downsville, NY  13755

We look forward to writing to you!  I hope you enjoy our pictures.

Praying for you and all the men and women who protect us.

    Love,

Mrs Jody Reed and the Pre-K class

Patty, here is the letter that I wrote and am sending to Michael.  I think it explains more of my "writing endeavor."  I hope I didn't scare him away?

    Take care,
    Jody

Our class had been writing a fellow marine who lived in NY state, where our school is located.  He was deployed.  He and two other Marines were ambushed at the

beginning of January and he was killed (he was 21 years old), the same age as my son.

His picture also hangs above my flag.  Anyway, my students kept asking for mail and to

send mail to Nicholas.  As an effort to keep Nicholas alive in my heart and the heart of my students, I decided to start writing other Marines.  Some are deployed, some are getting ready to deploy etc.  Nicholas was never able to send us a letter—but I am assured that he had received our letter and pictures.  My students call you guys… “Proud Americans,” and sometimes, “Submarines.”  LOL  You see…they don’t even know we are fighting in a war to keep them free—and they don’t know that Nicholas has passed.

If you can find the time, we would LOVE a letter back from you!  I want to display the correspondence from our very special Marines in the hallway of our school.

Hi Pattyh, Yes I can understand your concern. The boys are doing fine. I think they just want to become Marines, and come home for a home cooked meal. Not sure if you know it or not, but the Quebec Co. barracks are located away from the main area on the base. My son said that the DI's can get away with a lot more. But he added a LOL to that. He told me they were down to 56 recruits now. They started out with 61. He also over heard one of the DI's say that Quebec Co. is doing good , but he felt like 5 would probably not make it all the way through the crucible. I hope and pray they all make it. I don't think I have ever been this proud except when my father was buried in Arlington Cemetary. I nervous and proud at the same time. Same as all the other parents I guess. If you have any more questions , feel free to send me a line. I get 1or 2 letters a week.

    Hi Patty,
I just realized you sent me a comment. I'm not very good at the message board -- first time I've ever used one.

Anyway, my son did say it was starting on June 30th and they would officially become Marines on July 2nd. He seemed pretty sure of the date change and if I hear anything different in his next letter I'll let you know.

Thanks for putting together the prayer chain.
    Susan

    Hi!

My nephew is in Plt 3050 and I would like to join the prayer chain (my sister is kristen115 and she told me about this site and the prayer chain). I can take any time between 0100 and 0500 (I work night shift and could be free for an hour), or between 0800 and 1100. Any day is fine, doesn't matter. Thank you!
